• April 4th & 5th: ORTli Annual Spring Conference in Eugene, Oregon  | "So Much Data - Where Do I Focus My Attention?" presented by Alisa Dorman and Dr. Jeff Wayman 

• April 27th:  TRL's Summit - Finding Alignment from Research to Practice in San Diego, CA | Alex Frazier and Susan Rattan will be there to participate. 
• April 27th & 28th: IDA-Ontario's Literacy & Learning Conference in Toronto, ON | Eric Howey and Rose McMahon will be onsite to meet with folks.

• June 18th-20th, 25th-26th: Embracing Literacy hosted by WDE at the University of Wyoming | Acadience will have two sessions, in-person and virtual. Alex Frazier will be presenting during the in-person dates.

• June 26th: MSJ Reading Science Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio | "Importance of Universal Screening and Progress Monitoring in Middle School" presented by Alex Frazier and Catherine Claes

Dr. Susan Rattan is a Senior Research Scientist at Acadience Learning. Her work focuses on the development of vocabulary, oral language, and early literacy assessments. Prior to joining Acadience Learning, she was an Associate Professor of School Psychology at the University of Rhode Island and Duquesne University.

She taught graduate courses that focused on academic assessment and intervention, data-based decision making, and the science of reading. Dr. Rattan has authored many publications related to vocabulary assessment and intervention in the early grades, including a chapter in Structured Literacy Interventions: Teaching Students with Reading Difficulties, Grades K-6.

The authors at Acadience Learning are pleased to announce the availability of Acadience Reading Español, a new reading assessment. For details about the use and implementation of Acadience Reading Español, please see our guidance document here: Acadience Reading Español Guidance.

The Acadience Reading Español assessment materials will be available for free download on our Acadience Learning Materials Product Download Hub. ALO digital users of Acadience Reading K-6 have access to this assessment at no cost for the remainder of the 23-24 school year. Can educators use scaffolds with students during screening?

For example, during the practice items in Phoneme Segmentation Fluency, could we remind students to say each sound by showing them a finger for each sound or use tools like Elkonin boxes?

Participant Recruitment

Acadience Learning is developing a new measure of vocabulary and oral language (VOL) for grades K-3. Plans are underway for the next phase of research that is set to take place during the 2024-2025 school year.
