IDEL is a set of brief, standardized indicators of literacy acquisition in Spanish for universal screening and progress monitoring in grades K-3. The IDEL registered trademark was sold by Acadience Learning Inc. to the University of Oregon (UO) and is now owned by the UO. Acadience Learning continues to provide training on IDEL, as well as reporting for the measures in Acadience Data Management. The IDEL assessment materials are available for free download from the University of Oregon Center on Teaching and Learning.
This workshop is designed to support assessors to learn how to give and score IDEL, a Spanish early literacy assessment. The assessment is comprised of four measures that function as indicators of the essential skills students must acquire to be proficient readers of Spanish. These measures are used to screen for reading difficulties and to regularly monitor the progress of students toward future reading goals.
This workshop provides training on the foundations and research behind the assessment, how to administer and score each of the measures, logistics of assessment, and its use in an outcomes-driven model. Practice activities are included.
